THE TRUSTWORTHY KING
Once upon a time, in a kingdom surrounded by mountains and rivers, there lived a king named Alexander. King Alexander was known throughout the land for his fairness, wisdom, and most importantly, his unwavering trustworthiness.
One day, a neighboring kingdom faced a terrible famine. The king of that land, King Roderick, sent an envoy to King Alexander, pleading for help. He requested a large loan of grain to feed his starving people, promising to repay it within a year.
Without hesitation, King Alexander agreed. He ordered his granaries to be opened and sent the requested grain to King Roderick’s kingdom. His advisors were concerned and warned him, saying, “What if King Roderick cannot repay the loan? What if he betrays your trust?”
King Alexander replied, “A king’s duty is to help those in need. Trust is built on actions, and we must be the first to extend it if we are to expect it in return.”
Months passed, and King Roderick’s kingdom began to recover. However, as the year drew to a close, King Roderick fell ill and was unable to send the repayment on time. Worried, he sent a message to King Alexander explaining the situation and asking for more time.
King Alexander’s advisors urged him to take action against King Roderick, fearing they would never see the repayment. But King Alexander refused, saying, “King Roderick’s people needed help, and we gave it. We must have faith in his integrity.”
Eventually, King Roderick recovered and fulfilled his promise. He not only repaid the grain but also sent gifts and a heartfelt letter of gratitude. The bond between the two kingdoms grew stronger, built on the foundation of trust and mutual respect.
The people of both kingdoms admired King Alexander for his unwavering trustworthiness. His actions taught them the importance of trust, generosity, and patience.
The moral of the story is that true leadership is built on trust and integrity. By being trustworthy and having faith in others, we can foster strong relationships and create a more compassionate and cooperative world.
