The king announced that he would hold a grand feast and invited all the suitors. At the feast, he presented each man with a golden box, instructing them to keep it safe and return with it in three days’ time. The suitor who returned the box in its original condition would win the princess’s hand in marriage.

Among the suitors was a humble farmer named Ethan, who had always admired Princess Lila from afar. Unlike the other wealthy and powerful suitors, Ethan was known for his kindness, honesty, and hard work.

After the feast, Ethan took his box home and placed it in a safe spot. Over the next three days, he continued his daily tasks, all the while ensuring the box remained untouched. On the third day, he returned to the palace with the golden box in perfect condition.

One by one, the suitors presented their boxes. Some had tried to embellish or decorate the box, others had tampered with it, believing they could improve upon it. Only Ethan’s box remained exactly as it had been given to him.

The king smiled and declared, “The purpose of this test was to see who would respect my wishes and keep the box as it was. Many of you tried to alter it, believing you could improve it, but only Ethan showed the patience, respect, and understanding to leave it unchanged. These qualities are essential in a husband.”

Princess Lila agreed, and she and Ethan were married. Together, they ruled the kingdom with fairness and wisdom.
